I love cake, let me start there…

I was 10 years old when I lived at my grandma’s house and not sure I remember all the details, but she asked me to make a BOX CAKE! Shock, I know. I remember reading the instructions and seeing how simple it was. I made them every week, trying new flavors and icings. You know the ones from the containers? Yeah… For the rest of the year I made boxed cakes, went to the library to look at cookbooks, and watched so many YouTube videos on decorating cakes.

After high school, I went straight to culinary school at Kendall College in Chicago, where I was trained. I was there for two years and I had an experience that really changed my perspective on what I wanted to do. I knew that cakes and decorating was something I knew I could do, but I learned that I could make so many more desserts, I learned what I was capable of. I was told by my chefs that my products were always amazing, but I knew in my heart what I really wanted to do.  After two years, I knew that all I wanted to do was bake and decorate cakes.

I had the opportunity to work at different bakeries in the Chicago area like Bittersweet and Cake Sweet Food Chicago, where I was able to learn many techniques and eventually find the confidence to start something on my own. Although I am young, I don’t let my age define my ability to be professional with clients. I continue to find my style, my voice, and I believe in every cake I do, I’ve been able to put a little of myself in everything I make. The cakes on this site are my favorite cakes, ones that made me excited and stressed me out so much because I put my heart in every cake.
